Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Developed by Capcom and Slant Six Games

After hearing some rumors, I decided to dig up some dirt. The digging unearthed a zombie from Raccoon City. That’s right. Resident Evil is back. For nostalgic reasons, we are going back into Raccoon City during the original outbreak, where Leon Kennedy started his story in the series. However, he is not the main character. To add a dramatic twist, you play as one of the Umbrella Secret Security Delta Squad agents sent into handle the situation. No, I don’t mean just kill zombies. Those guys aren’t the main targets, but they are targets nonetheless. The real targets are any survivors that could possibly escape the City, leading to Umbrellas actions being revealed. That means you will be hunting down Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield and killing them. To add to your troubles, the government inserted Spec Ops to get survivors outta there. Not only that, but a T-103 Tyrant as well as MA-121 Hunters will also be roaming the streets, so expect to use more than your standard amount of bullets. Long story short, you gotta kill everything, undead or living. Gameplay looks similar RE4/5, yet it seems above standard for the series (grapples, stomps, returning thrown grenades, etc.). Multiplayer will be a key detail, as it includes a 4-player co-op and a versus mode of Spec Ops vs. Delta Squad (complete with a ton of AI zombies on the map). As of March 20, 2011, the game has been dubbed 45% complete by Masachika Kawata. Fans of RE2 and RE3 might feel a bit worried, because one of the goals is to kill Leon and Claire. However, multiple endings might be possible, if this game is turned canon. Capcom, Slant Six, I must admire your attempt at this game. I’m quite sure every RE fan will be wanting to get this game, even if they gotta kill Leon.

The more I think about, the more I wonder if Ada and H.U.N.K. will also be part of the story. Not only them, but will you run into Jill and Carlos or the Nemesis... scratch

For example:
Will H.U.N.K. be a target or will you help him escape?
Will you have a chance to betray Umbrella and join Ada and Wesker?
Will you chase down Jill Valentine while running from the Nemesis?

My head is spinning from the possiblities... @_@'

The following playable characters have been, confirmed, each with their own style in the out break of Raccoon City:

Vector- Stealth

Bertha- Medic

Beltway- Demolition

Spectre- Sharpshooter

Lupo- Leader

Four Eyes- Field Scientist

Meanwhile, here are the status' of other characters in the game:

Leon S. Kennedy- Confirmed, but unknown if playable

Claire Redfield- Confirmed, but unkwown if playable

HUNK- Hinted to have an appearance in-game, but unconfirmed

Albert Wesker- Hinted to have an appearance in-game (possibly with Ada Wong), but unconfirmed

Also, like Resident Evil: Outbreak, if you becomed infected during multiplayer and die, you will become a zombie and have a chance to eat your buddies (or enemies, based on the situation).

That is the current info I have on the game at this moment.

Albert Wesker's been rumored to be playable in several RE games past... Just saying if he is some unlockable, I wonder how skilled he even is. We all know that he's got SOMETHING up his sleeve (Assassin's blade? O.o). I wonder if he's used the virus himself and has super strength, speed, or something. Actually, I noticed that he has something even cooler that he's used for ALL of the games..... Super Sunglasses! Seriously though, he wears them all the time.

Anywho......

I'd most likely end up playing Spectre, *sighs contently* something's just so... Fulfilling... When you aim those crosshairs from over 400 yards away and watch the skull disappear, just like a magic trick... (I know there's something wrong with me Laughing lol)

For some reason, I was expecting you to go with Vector because of his cloaking device, so you can sneak up on Spec-Ops and just be silent and deadly. Ah well. As for me, I can decide between Beltway and Bertha. Medics are VERY important, but causing big explosions is very fun...scratch

Ugh..... It's so difficult to choose between the sneaky type and the sniper for me... Wish they could integrate them ya know? Marksmen are supposed to be stealthy anyways, that's how we can pop heads off regardless of 100 yards or 10. Wink And it all depends on the situation, if the game is relatively short distance-wise I'll be sure to choose vector... Having trouble deciding if this game is worth it though, the Metal Gear Solid Series is getting an HD makeover... And I'm not seeing Snake as a playable character in Resident Evil..... pirat

Well, the game will be similar RE4/RE5 gameplay style, but with different ways to manage items and stuff, I guess. Plus, you have to consider map layout and enemies. A high up building will be perfect for snipers, but if the combat is mainly ground level, snipers might be sitting ducks while they take aim because of all the zombies running around. Not only that, but Spec-Ops will be different from other enemies, being combat trained and everything. Plus, Hunters and the T-103 Tyrant will take some careful planning too...

In any case, it is still too early to give any final details.

Close quarters ALL the time would really just annoy me rather than make a sitting duck. Trust me, ask anyone who's faced my rifle at close quarters, I guarantee that they will all state that their biggest mistake was to to think that I'm not anymore accurate at 5 yards than I am at 50 yards, for me the target's just bigger and most likely moving in a straight line towards me... Like shooting a wall really Neutral . Anywho.... Zombies don't fire back, and I'm hoping for a reasonable side-arm, like a .445 Super Mag I however doubt it.

More details have been released. It seems you can't go cannibal on you friends/enemies in multiplayer for a long time. After a short period of time, AI kicks in on your player, causing them to go rogue and attack whoever they please. Plus, Four Eyes has a special ability to control B.O.W.s with a special dart, so it seems that you might have a similar experience to Left 4 Dead, except it's a death-match, not a race to checkpoints.

There are only 2 confirmed B.O.W.s that Four Eyes can control:
Lickers
Hunters

WARNING! WARNING!

ORIGINAL ENEMY ALERT!!!

REPEAT!! ORIGINAL ENEMY ALERT!!!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

NEMESIS BETA PROTOTYPE
CREATED AS AN "ARTIFICAL SPECIES" BY UNBRELLA

A PARASITE THAT LATCHES ONTO HOSTS. IT INCREASES PERFORMANCE OF THE HOST, MAKING IT SMARTER, FASTER, STRONGER, AND MORE BULLET PROOF.

WILL NOT DIE ONCE HOST DIES. NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH, PREFERABLY ALONE. HAS POTENTIAL TO STRENGTHEN DANGEROUS CREATURES, THOUGH NOT YET CONFIRMED.

END TRANSMITION.

If this thing beefs up Tyrants and stuff along those lines, I will make sure this thing gets plenty of explosives in it's diet... Cool
