If this is your first time here, take the time to sign up. It literally takes only a few minutes and it will help the site grow. Sure, you have to sign over your soul, and sacrifice a three-headed goat to the gods of Narheplottemer, but it's well worth it. Alright, so you don't have to do that stuff, but what you *must* do is sign up, seriously, this site gets so much guest traffic it's unbelievable. And I can't have this site grow on guests.

After getting the Xbox 360 i was always concerned that it would get the red ring of death. So after looking on line for cooling bases i decided that i could make one with some spare parts i had laying around. So i took some wood, some fans, a old 12 to 13 volt transformer and made a cooling base. I think it runs cooler now. If you want pictures they are on mite site here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

First i took a 1x6 piece of wood and cut it to about 11in long. Then i cut a hole in the middle a little smaller than the Xbox 360.

Then i made some legs for it out of the the 1x6 that i cut in half and made about 2in long.

Then i took three 80mm fans and put them on the bottom of the whole so that they are blowing up through the whole.

After wiring all the fans together you wire them to the wire from the transformer (i used a 13 volt 850ma transformer). To turn it on or off you just plug it in and unplug it.

Later i went to Radio Shack and got a switch and wired that in so it was easier to turn it on and off.

When is was done i painted it white because i have the white version but you can paint it any color you want, i just wanted it to blend in. Furthermore if you want to control the speed (volume) of the fans you could get a simple fan controller or some time like that. Also the transformers voltage and amperage, and the number of fans would change the speed of the fans.
